While there are definitely some hills on the run course (and they're bound to hurt a heck of a lot more after the 1.2 m swim and the 56 m challenging bike), I found the course to be absolutely beautiful, great variety, plenty of shade and downhills, and good areas for recovery. It's a route that I just may use for training even after the Toughman.
It also helped to have 3 running partners - these training times are great, especially for someone who trains alone most of the time. Now I'll just have to try to find at least one of them during the race!
If you are looking for training partners, the people of the Westchester Tri club have been most accepting and gracious. Seriously, don't feel weird about joining their training group. And, you won't be dropped.
