PostSubject: Run Course   Wed Aug 27, 2008 7:48 pm

Last Sunday I ran the course with a few athletes signed up for the race. This is a beautiful run with a very interesting and varied terrain - from beautiful river shore views across the Hudson to the wooded aqueduct and the wide open expanse over the Croton Dam - it doesn't get much better than this!

PostSubject: can we get an enlarged map?   Fri Aug 29, 2008 2:31 am

Hi James/Rich, etal -
I've been running parts of the course and was trying to figure out the mileage. Is it possible to be able to download or view a larger version of the course map, so I can pick and choose my mileage (since I'm not yet up to running all 13.1 - though it'll be soon).
See you Sat a.m.,
Eve

PostSubject: Awesome run course   Sun Aug 31, 2008 6:18 pm

While there are definitely some hills on the run course (and they're bound to hurt a heck of a lot more after the 1.2 m swim and the 56 m challenging bike), I found the course to be absolutely beautiful, great variety, plenty of shade and downhills, and good areas for recovery. It's a route that I just may use for training even after the Toughman.

It also helped to have 3 running partners - these training times are great, especially for someone who trains alone most of the time. Now I'll just have to try to find at least one of them during the race!

If you are looking for training partners, the people of the Westchester Tri club have been most accepting and gracious. Seriously, don't feel weird about joining their training group. And, you won't be dropped.

Beautiful running course. Very scenic, well shaded and just the right mix of topography. Great group of people to run with as well; friendly, helpful and patient. It should make for a great finish.
