This may be one tough course, but it's also the friendliest triathlon I've ever done.
And that's all because of Rich and his team. First, you started off by offering group workouts, so many of us got to know one another as we learned the course. (Sometimes we got to know more about each other than some of our good friends do, eh?) Then you enlisted the help of locals like me for route advice and to get volunteers, so as I swam, biked and rode in the neighborhood on Sunday, I was surrounded by the cheers of friends and family, which made this triathlon stand out, more than just because it was my first half. You've inspired me to keep on doing this, in spite of the pain in my glutes, hammies and quads, which now makes simply walking downstairs a chore. And hopefully, we've inspired others in the area to challenge themselves to lead healthier lives. I already know of one non-triathlete who wants to do next year's race!
As the race grows into a big success, we'll all be nostalgic about the little race that started it all. We'll remember we were there at the beginning!
Thanks so much,
Eve
